Planning for the 2023-2024 school year is already underway. The Laps for Learning Committee is forming now to make Olde Creek’s largest fundraiser the best one yet! Funds raised at Laps for Learning are used for student activities, field trips, classroom resources and so much more. It is also the kickoff community event of the 2023-2024 OCES school year. Please consider joining this fantastic team of parents!
We plan to have an organizational meeting soon to discuss ideas for the 2023 event.

Laps for Learning Coordinator – Responsible for maintaining the Laps for Learning schedule/calendar and ensuring deadlines are met. The coordinator will organize committee meetings to go over the schedule and identify any planning areas that need additional support. The overall coordinator will serve as the liaison with the Olde Creek Administration and Staff and the PTA to include attending PTA meetings during the fall to provide updates on Laps for Learning. The coordinator ensures that those homes that live along the route are informed of the Laps for Learning date and time. The coordinator will support other committee members as needed.
Sponsorships and Prizes – Responsible for reaching out to area businesses to request event sponsorships and/or prizes for the students participating in the event. This role works closely with the Treasurer to track whether sponsorship money has been received. This role also works with the T-shirt coordinator to ensure sponsorship logos are available for the T-shirts.
Registration Team– Updating the online registration form and summarize registration status (by grade, by t-shirt size, etc.) so that the team and school can have updated information to carry out planned or additional promotion activities. The person will work closely with the t-shirt coordinator to make sure the t-shirt order quantities are correct. The registration team will facilitate getting the names of students who have registered up on the bulletin board at OCES. This team also prepares the sign-in sheets for the event.
Treasurer Liaison – Works closely with both the Treasurer and the PTA webmaster to ensure the donations made are credited to the right students for prize purposes. The person also generates lists of students eligible for different raffles based on donation date or amount and record the raffle results. This role will work closely with the registration position.
Volunteer and Donation Coordinator and Team – Responsible for identifying event set up, execution, and clean up needs. This team identifies route security an needs and recruits volunteers. This role will create the volunteer and food/water donation sign ups and keep the Coordinator informed of any needs.
T-shirts– Responsible for helping select a t-shirt vendor, shirt color and design, and working closely with the Registration team and staff liaison to ensure the t-shirt order is correct for the event. This role facilitates payment and receipt of the shirts from the vendor and the distribution process.
Communications – Responsible for drafting the communications for the Laps for Learning event for the website, email distribution and Friday folders. This team will work closely with the OCES front office staff and all of the committee members to ensure the information about the event is sent out to the OCES community in a timely fashion.
