For Rising 6th Graders
This fall an exciting math opportunity opens to all 6th graders at Olde Creek. MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is a national program that provides students in grades 6-8 the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers. Students who register for MATHCOUNTS, will meet once a week on Thursday nights at 7:30PM, to work with coaches to prepare for the competition. They will work individually, and as teams on math problems, learn new math, do math competitions and games. The ten students who score the highest on a school test in January, will represent Olde Creek at the chapter competition held in early February. The PTA will fund the majority of the cost, but a $20 donation is requested per student to cover other fees.
A rising senior at TJ will serve as a math coach for Olde Creek students. We are also looking for parents who enjoy math and who would be interested in being math coaches. To learn more about the program and for information on new coaches visit: https://www.mathcounts.org/welcome-new-coaches
If you are interested in helping coach or registering your child, please contact Louise Williams: firstname.lastname@example.org or 571-599-8157. We hope that many rising 6th graders will be excited to do math together this fall!
